If sweaty palms affect your confidence, career, or daily activities, clinical solutions are available. Endoscopic Thoracic Sympathectomy (ETS) is a minimally invasive day surgery designed to provide long-lasting results for the majority of eligible patients. No GP referral is required.
Hyperhidrosis, characterised by excessive and uncontrollable sweating, affects individuals globally across both personal and professional environments. Many navigate these difficulties without realising that the cure is available.
This condition is far more than a minor inconvenience. Constantly wiping hands, avoiding handshakes, worrying about leaving damp marks on documents, and navigating job interviews are common challenges; Hyperhidrosis can frequently affect social and professional interactions.
Clinical Insight: Modern endoscopic thoracic sympathectomy utilizes minimally invasive VATS techniques. This day procedure demonstrates up to a 99% success rate for focal palmar hyperhidrosis, allowing individuals to undergo treatment effectively within a day surgery.
Estimated percentage of the general population managing hyperhidrosis symptoms according to epidemiological studies.
Documented variations in prevalence rates within certain Asian populations and clinical tracking reports.

Patients undergo a day surgery procedure and are discharged the same day or stay in the hospital for one night.
Endoscopic Thoracic Sympathectomy (ETS) is a surgical procedure for severe primary palmar hyperhidrosis. It works by cutting the sympathetic nerve that carries the signals driving excessive sweating in the palms.
The procedure is performed using Video-Assisted Thoracoscopic Surgery (VATS), which lets the thoracic surgeon view the chest through a small endoscope. The sympathetic chain is divided at the appropriate level (T3 or T4), permanently interrupting the sweat signal to the hands.
The surgery is done under general anaesthesia and takes around 30 to 45 minutes. Both sides are treated in the same session, and eligible patients are usually discharged the same day.
"Video-assisted endoscopic thoracic sympathectomy provides a targeted, minimally invasive surgical approach to address severe palmar hyperhidrosis when conservative treatments have not achieved satisfactory clinical results."

A full medical assessment looks at every option, including non-surgical ones, before deciding whether surgery is right for you. ETS may be an option if you:
Initial evaluation appointments are arranged promptly. If surgical intervention is recommended, scheduling is finalised based on clinical readiness.
Request a specialised evaluation for hyperhidrosis directly online, via WhatsApp (+65 9276 2485), or by calling our care team. No GP referral required.
Dr Harish reviews your complete medical history, and discusses both surgical and conservative options.
The minimally invasive keyhole procedure (ETS) is carried out under general anesthesia at Gleneagles or Mount Alvernia Hospital, typically taking under an hour.
After a standard post-operative monitoring window, your discharge details are finalised the same afternoon, allowing you to return home safely.

For eligible patients with severe symptoms, ETS aims to stop the excessive sweating at its source by cutting the sympathetic nerves that trigger it. The goal is dry, stable palms.
For many patients, this means being able to do everyday things — handle paperwork, shake hands, use a phone or touchscreen — without the constant sweating and the anxiety that feeds it
"Not everyone is a candidate for ETS. Selection follows clear criteria — a confirmed diagnosis, failed non-surgical treatments, and fitness for anaesthesia — and every patient is walked through both the expected results and the risks, including compensatory sweating, before deciding."
— Dr Harish Mithiran, Founder & Medical Director, Neumark
Sweaty palms and feet are often caused by an overactive sympathetic nervous system — the part of your body that controls automatic responses like sweating. In other cases, it may be linked to certain medications, or medical conditions such as diabetes, hyperthyroidism, infections, or hormonal changes.
You don't need a GP referral to book your first consultation with us. However, if you're planning to claim from your insurance, some insurance policies may require a referral letter. Do check with your insurance provider, or give our clinic a call and we'll help guide you through it.
Before considering surgery, you'll need to have properly tried other treatment options first. These include:
Surgery is only considered if these treatments don't give you satisfactory results.
A clinical consultation provides a structured, detailed conversation about whether surgical options match your diagnostic profile. The consultant surgeon reviews all surgical and non-surgical paths to map out an objective approach.
