A 5-minute low-dose CT (LDCT) scan can identify subtle lung changes long before symptoms appear.
Every scan is personally reviewed by Dr Harish, so you get clear, easy-to-understand guidance, a reliable baseline to track your lung health over time, and genuine peace of mind.
Over 75% of Singapore lung cancer cases are diagnosed at Stage III or IV, with approximately 67% at Stage IV alone. Survival drops dramatically at these stages. An LDCT scan finds cancer at Stage I, before any symptoms appear.

An ultra-low-dose CT (ULDCT) scan exposes you to cosmic radiation equivalent to roughly 4 to 8 one-way nonstop flights from Singapore to London. It produces detailed images of the lungs, identifying nodules as small as 2mm that would be invisible on a chest X-ray.
Unlike a chest X-ray, which misses up to 40% of early-stage lung cancers, the landmark NLST and NELSON trials demonstrated that annual LDCT screening reduces lung cancer mortality by 20 to 24% in high-risk populations, offering up to 24% reduction in lung cancer mortality. (Sources: NLST 2011; NELSON Trial, New England Journal of Medicine, 2020) It is the only evidence-based screening modality for lung cancer.
No preparation needed. No fasting. No injection. No contrast dye. You simply lie on the scanner for 5 minutes, hold your breath briefly for the scan, and you're done.
The traditional "smokers only" message is outdated. Nearly half of Singapore's lung cancer patients have never smoked.
Note: Singapore's January 2025 guidelines formally recommend screening for high-risk smokers. Dr Harish's recommendation to screen non-smokers with risk factors aged 40+ is based on his clinical experience and the evidence base for Singapore's high non-smoker lung cancer prevalence. This is not yet a national guideline for non-smokers.
"Many people die from lung cancer in Singapore every day. Even if you don't smoke, especially if you're of Asian descent, you can still get lung cancer."
— Dr Harish Mithiran, Founder & Medical Director, Neumark
Lung cancer often develops without obvious symptoms in its early stages. Unfortunately, many people do not discover it until the disease has progressed.
When lung cancer is found early, treatment is usually more effective and outcomes are often much better. That's why screening can be so important, particularly for people over 50, current or former smokers, those with a family history of lung cancer, or anyone with other risk factors.
Understanding your risk and seeking advice early can provide peace of mind and, if needed, allow treatment to begin at the earliest possible stage.
"Regular screening means we can find and address any concerns before they become serious, giving you a clear picture of your lung health and a plan that's right for you."
- Dr Harish Mithiran, Founder & Medical Director, Neumark

For the small number where something needs a closer look, early detection is exactly why you came. At Stage I, lung cancer is highly treatable and finding it at that stage is precisely what screening is for.
